Minnesota 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC)
21st CCLC stands for 21st Century Community Learning Centers, a federal program that provides academic enrichment and other services for students during non-school hours. The program is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
The 21st CCLC program's goals include:
- Helping students meet academic standards
- Offering a variety of enrichment activities
- Providing academic support
- Promoting social emotional learning
- Supporting STEM activities
- Offering tutoring
- Providing physical activities
The program is implemented at the federal, state, and local levels. In Minnesota, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) has administered the program since 2002.
